Purpose

The purpose of the Tallahassee Area Council of Advanced Practice Nurses is to promote the viability, visibility, and unity of nurses engaged in advanced nursing practice. As a result, we are a council of Advanced Practice Nurses concerned with the health and wellness of the people of the State of Florida. In addition, we promote professional advancement of our members.

Goals

1. To further develop the Tallahassee Area Council of Advanced Practice Nurses in response to the needs and interests of its members.
2. To advocate and promote high standards of advanced nursing practice and research.
3. To facilitate the practice of all advanced practice nurses in the state of Florida, including legislative/political activities, marketing, and public relations strategies, communications, network systems and continuing education offerings.
4. To promote national, regional, and local visibility of advanced practice nurses.
5. To promote the enhancement of professional development and educational opportunities locally.
6. To facilitate networking and enhancement of referrals among nurses.
7. To create a resource for advanced practice nurses new to our community.
8. To improve advocacy for autonomy in our clinical practices.
9. To promote new alliances among practitioners, educators, and researchers in our field.
